“Culinary cooking Heaven in Tuscany at Tuscookany Casa Ombuto”

I planned this week long cooking vacation in Tuscany last minute and I couldn't have made a better choice. Once I landed in Firenze, I rented a car (this was a little of a disorganised ordeal, but hey when in Italy) and took a winding road to the Villa. The views were phenomenal. I arrived early (around 2 - check in is 4pm) and found a serene location with a beautiful pool, great grounds and a sudden wonderful calmness. My room wasn't ready but I was immediately greeted by Lena who had made me feel at home with her first 'Ciao'. I was offered some wine and cheese while I waited for the others to arrive. The warm welcome continued all week long. The entire staff was friendly and did everything they could to make you feel at home. Paola, our Chef (and ultimately the friend you felt you knew forever) was phenomenal, funny and extremely efficient. She was able to lead 13 strong, independent and at times distracted amateur cooks to create delicious Tuscan food. The group laughed, ate, drank, and got to know each other in the most beautiful environment. Chef Paola was instrumental to make us all feel comfortable in the kitchen and like family at the table. I already miss the dinners al fresco as well as Paola, and the staff's humour and hospitality. Looking forward to be back!
