Itinerary for the Mediterranean cooking course in Italy at Casa Ombuto

Do you prefer more variety and a more intensive course?  Then join us in our One-week Mediterranean cooking course in Italy. In one week you will make an elaborate Italian dinner, a light Spanish lunch, an exotic Moroccan dinner, a traditional French Provencal supper and on top of that learn to make various breads and pastries. It will prove to be the Cooking holiday of a lifetime.

This course is more intensive than our Italian cookery courses in Italy as it also includes two extra morning sessions - one specializing in Breads and Pastries and the other is a light Spanish Lunch. There will however still be plenty of time to relax, do some sightseeing or go for a walk in the beautiful Tuscan countryside.

First Day

  • Arrival at Florence airport
    We can arrange transfers to and from Florence airport on request.
  • Check-in at the villa from 16:00
  • Welcoming dinner
    Introduction given by chef Laura Giusti at Casa Ombuto and a chance to get to know each other.

Second Day

  • Breakfast
  • Morning free for sightseeing or to relax at the villa
  • Light lunch for those who are present
  • Your Cooking lesson starts at 15:00
    You prepare a four course Italian dinner
  • Dinner

Third day

  • Breakfast
  • Breads and pastry cooking lesson  - starts at 10:30
  • French lunch
  • Cooking lesson – starts at 15:00
    You prepare a three course Moroccan dinner along with several side dishes.

Fourth day

  • Breakfast
  • Departure excursion

During the Mediterranean cooking courses in Italy you will be taken on a full-day culinary excursion with a tour leader who speaks English fluently and will guide you to the source of Tuscan culinary specialties.

You will get the opportunity to explore the charming town of Arezzo for some shopping and sightseeing and have a cheese tasting in a Formaggeria, pay a visit to a wine estate for a wine tasting and make your way to Anghiari by driving through the breathtaking Tuscan countryside to an olive oil mill complete with olive oil tasting and lunch.  After lunch you will visit Anghiari which is a charming village and see a unique textile factory and then you will go back to Casa Ombuto after an exciting, fun-filled day to have a light, informal dinner at the villa. 

Fifth day

    Preparation of a Spanish lunch with Sangria

    You prepare a four course French Provencal dinner.

Sixth day

  • Breakfast
  • Free day

On the free day, only breakfast is served.  After breakfast you have the day to yourselves to do some sightseeing or just enjoy the peaceful surroundings. This is an ideal day to take a trip to Florence for shopping and sightseeing, as it's only a 50km drive away. Another option will be to visit La Verna, an ancient monastery where San Francisco de Assisi lived most of his life. Tip: Our guide can organize and accompany your group on excursions in the area. You are welcome to just stay at the villa for the day and relax around the pool or take a dip in the Hot Tub.
Lunch and dinner reservations can be made at a restaurant of your choice on request.

Seventh day

  • Morning free for sightseeing or to relax or book a massage
  • Light lunch for those who are present
  • Final cooking lesson – starts at 15:00
    All four cuisines will be prepared in a buffet dinner covering all the cooking techniques you have learnt during the week and more. Presentation of food will also be demonstrated.

  • At the grand finale dinner you will be presented with a certificate of attendance and say a final goodbye to your the new friends you have made at the Mediterranean cooking courses in Italy.
